The Nkoranza District Assembly, has charged its planning committee to prevent land developers from putting up buildings and structures close to streets, pavements and other unauthorized places in Nkoranza.
Land developers were also advised to ensure that they possessed the relevant building documents before starting any project since the Assembly would be compelled to demolish structures at unauthorized places.
Mr. Thomas Adu-Appiah, Chairman of the Environmental Sanitary Sub-committee of the Assembly said these at the Assembly's meeting at Nkoranza.
He expressed concern that land developers had trespassed on lands and also put up buildings haphazardly in Nkoranza, affecting vehicular movement.
Mr. Adu-Appiah called on officials of the Town and Country Planning to supervise the activities of land developers at Nkoranza and to ensure that they had valid building documents.
Mr. Ebenezer Amoah, the District Development Planning Officer, urged residents in the area to report people building at unauthorized places to the assembly.
He appealed to land developers to provide places of convenience in their homes to help promote environmental sanitation.
Miss Mary Nyadia, Range Supervisor of the District Forestry Department, expressed worry about the indiscriminate felling of trees by some charcoal burners and asked the Assembly to monitor the activities of such people to avoid forest degradation.
She also deplored the conduct of some opinion leaders, who requested for permits to fell timber for community development but abused the offer and enriched themselves.
