This Saturday on Newsfile, host Samson Lardy Anyenini and his panelist will discuss the ongoing ambulance purchase trial involving Minority Leader, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson.

The case has taken an interesting turn after the third accused in the ambulance purchase trial, Richard Jakpa alleged that the Attorney-General, Godfred Yeboah Dame approached him to help build a case against the Minority Leader and former Deputy Finance Minister, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson.

In defense, the A-G’s office denied the allegation insisting that Mr Dame only met Mr. Jakpa to engage in pre-negotiation discussions.

Subsequently, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) released a 16-minute audio of a purported conversation between the Attorney General and the third accused.

The party argued that this was proof that the Attorney-General wanted to incriminate Dr Ato Forson.

But the New Patriotic Party (NPP) insists the tape is doctored.

However, following the release of the audio, many have called for the resignation or dismissal of the Attorney General.

In view of this, host, Samson Lardy Anyenini and his guests will throw more light on the controversy surrounding the Attorney-General and the way forward for justice delivery in the country.

Again, on November 29, 2019, the government broke ground for the Pwalugu Multipurpose Dam. This dam is designed to control flooding from the spillage of the Bagre Dam in Burkina Faso.

The Pwalugu Multipurpose Dam project consists of two major components. The first component includes a 60 MW hydropower plant and a 50 MW solar power plant, estimated to cost $588.24 million.

The second component involves irrigation infrastructure, estimated at $404.76 million. The total cost of the project is $993 million. The government was expected to pay $48.57 million for mobilization but has only paid $11.9 million.

However, there has been no progress on the site.

But the Ghana Irrigation Development Authority (GIDA) has clarified that it has completed 5.7km of the main Sariba-Kpasenkpe road that leads to the contractor’s camp and 4 km of road on site in and around the camp.

Again, GIDA said it has built rooms for site officers.

But is GIDA's explanation sufficient, or is it possible that funds have been misappropriated?
