Some residents at Ashiaman in the Greater Accra Region took to the streets to demonstrate against the 2020 election results as declared by the Electoral Commission.
According to the residents, EC Chair Jean Mensa did not declare the true verdict of the just-ended elections, insisting that the NDC are the winners of this year’s elections.
The residents of the municipality took to the street dressed in red, holding placards with "Stolen Verdict, “We need Peace”, "No Mahama, No peace" inscribed on it, and brunt’s car tyres in protest Sunday morning.
Some residents who spoke to the media said: "We are very concerned. We cannot understand how the NPP won this election. We will use all means possible aside demonstrating."
"The EC has come to tell us she made some errors. We are waiting for the Commission to tell Ghanaians we are heading to a run-off," they added.
This incident follows a similar event in Tamale; where party faithfuls of the NDC took to the streets, burnt tyres as a sign of defiance in the face of John Mahama’s defeat in the just-ended elections.
However, calm has been restored in Tamale following several interventions from the police and other bodies.
