The Volta Regional Director of Education, Francis Agbemadi has advised newly posted teachers to focus on their professional duties and refrain from involving themselves in local conflicts.
He entreated the teachers to desist from becoming mediators or taking sides in any form of conflict that may erupt in their respective communities of service.
He was speaking at an orientation program organized for approximately 700 newly recruited teachers who have been posted to various schools across the Volta Region.
"Your primary responsibility is to educate and nurture the young minds of this region. You must remain neutral in local disputes and concentrate on your mission as educators," Mr Agbemadi stressed.
He implored the teachers to be careful of the numerous Ponzi schemes and betting to avoid being cash-strapped.
He also emphasized the critical role educators play in shaping the future and urged them to maintain a high standard of integrity and professionalism while engaging themselves in capacity-building programs to shape them for the evolving world.
One of the teachers, Godknows Ahiagba, remarked that the orientation was insightful and would help guide them as they commence their professional careers.
“It has prepared us not just for the classroom but also for how to navigate the challenges we may face in our communities. I feel more confident now”, he said.
He implored the authorities to digitize some of the activities and workshops in the future to minimize expenditure for teachers stationed in isolated communities.
“It was a great opportunity to meet other teachers and learn from experienced educators. The session on professional ethics was particularly enlightening, and I believe it will guide me in my work”, said Ahiabu Priscilla, a teacher.
