The MP elect for Fomena, Nana Abu-Bonsra has promised to continue development programmes initiated by his predecessor, the late Akwasi Afrifa.
He said the performance of the late MP was so high that the people wanted someone capable to continue to enhance their living standards.
Speaking soon after the Electoral Commission declared him winner, Nana Abu-Bonsra said the high patronage at the election which he won with a wider margin underscored the confidence the people have in him and the NPP. The MP elect called for co-operation, support and understanding among the people for the realization of their dreams. The National Chairman of the NPP, Peter Mac Manu described the results as the verdict of the people.
He commended the people for the renewed faith in the government. Mr. Mac Manu said the Electoral Commission has declared the polls free and fair and appealed to the NDC to concede defeat and work hard the next time.
The NDC candidate, Madam Grace Amporful polled two thousand and nine votes to place second, a result the party has refused to endorse, claiming the results of two disputed polling stations at Kyekyewere and Dadwen are not part of the Fomena constituency.
