New Vicar General For Accra Archdiocese

THE Parish Priest of the St. Paul Catholic Church at Kpehe in Accra, the Very Rev. Francis Adoboli has been appointed as the new Vicar General of the Accra Archdiocese of the Catholic Church. The Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra, the Most Rev. Charles Palmer Buckle, announced this when he ordained nine deacons of the church at the Holy Spirit Cathedral in Accra. The Very Rev. Adoboli was the Dean of the Accra East Deanery of the church and also a member of the Accra Archdiocesan Justice and Peace Commission. He is also a member of College of Consulters, Council of priests (Priest senate), National Catechatical Commission and Chaplain of the Accra Archdiocesan Laity Council. Very Rev. Adoboli, was born in Kpenu, near Dabala in the Volta Region and had his education at the St. Peter’s Regional Seminary, Pedu in the Central Region. He also had his education at the Pope John Junior Seminary and Secondary School, Koforidua as well as the Koforidua Roman Catholic Primary and Middle school and did his National Service with the Pope John Junior Seminary and secondary school. The Vicar General was ordained as a priest in July 1991 by the Most Rev. Dominic Andoh at Battor in the Volta Region. Speaking to the Times in an interview, most Catholic faithfuls said they were not surprised at his appointment to that enviable position taking into account his hard work and commitment to duty. They described him as a visionary person with leadership skills who had brought development and transformation to the church. Some parishioners at Kpehe told the Times that with his coming to the parish, the church had seen remarkable improvement with the assistance of other priests who worked under him. They mentioned the introduction of "Hour of Grace" a monthly spiritual programme that he initiated, the construction of a ceiling for the church as well as the construction of an ultra-modern office complex. The parishioners also mentioned the tarring of portion of the parish ground, the renovation of the rectory and the construction of a modern place of convenience. According to the parishioners, plans were also in advance for the priest to initiate the construction of an ultra-modern parish hall which would be used as training centre, canteen with conference rooms among others.
