The Controller and Accountant General, Mr. Christian Sottie, has blamed disputed salary deductions in public sector workers pay on a new pay software.
He has admitted that the deductions are faulty and that a ‘quick action’ is being taken to fix the problem immediately.
Mr. Sottie told Joy News’ Israel Laryea that vendors of the software have been invited to come and help with fixing the problem.
According to him, the faulty deductions are estimated to have affected about 90 percent public workers. In some cases, workers lost as much as GH¢80 (¢800,000) but the Accountant General has assured that the monies would be refunded.
In July, this year, the same issue cropped up when several workers had their salaries slashed arbtrarily.
