The new national switch being managed by the Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlements System will be operational by August this year.
GHIPPS says it is currently customizing the software that will enable a test by the end of July.
The national switch will connect the ATMs of all banks and allow customers to withdraw or make payments from any bank branch.
Chief Executive, Fred France says this new system will help improve the payments system.
“We’ve put the hardware in place, we’ve put the software in place. We are now customizing the software to meet our needs in Ghana and by the end of July, we should be able to start our tests,” he stated.
