VRA and ECG will publish a revised load-shedding timetable on Tuesday.
The more intensive power rationing exercise announced by the Volta River Authority (VRA) and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) is expected to take effect from next Wednesday, the 28th of March.
Under the new timetable, which confirms earlier reports by Joy News, electricity consumers will be denied power for 24 hours every four days instead of the current “12 hours off, every 5 days.”
In a press release jointly signed by the VRA and ECG, the reviewed timetable is part of recommendations reached after a meeting with interest groups in the energy sector and has been accepted by government.
The review is to ensure that the Akosombo Dam does not collapse. Director of Operations at the Electricity Company of Ghana, Andrew Tonto-Baffour said that the VRA and ECG will continue to monitor and review the programme when it becomes necessary.
