The rapid development of renewable energies requires technical and engineering competence at the highest level.
However, a study programme that is to be directly relevant to a demanding working world also requires - and this is the core of the project - a high didactic quality in the design and implementation of the modules and their learning units.
This project addresses a strong focus on practical issues of Renewable Energy in the country and teaching and learning forms adapted to this.
The project known as Professional Education for Renewable Energy in Ghana (ProREG) aims at increasing labour market relevance of education in the field of renewable energy in Ghana. The project, funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) will run from July 2022 to December 2025.
Often, graduates can only be productively employed by companies with great effort and long training periods. This hinders an increased expansion of renewable energies in the country. Therefore, three project objectives were jointly defined to teach an improvement:
New practice-relevant modules in the field of renewable energies are integrated into the curricula of KNUST and UENR.
Lecturers at KNUST and UENR are trained and experienced in agile teaching and learning formats on practical application of renewable energies.
An international network of experts, entrepreneurs, and companies in the field of renewable energies is operative and in active contact with the "Council for Education and Renewable Energies".
The partners in the project are Technische Universität Berlin (TUB, coordinator), Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi) and the University for Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), Sunyani
Partnering companies are Redavia (DE), Microenergy International (DE), Association of Ghana Industries (GH), Greentech Biogas Engineering Services (GH), Stella Futura Ghana Ltd. (GH) and the Bui Power Authority (GH)
