The New Juaben Traditional Council has prepared a compendium to be submitted to the Speaker of Parliament detailing events that have occurred at the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs leading to their exemption from the National House of Chiefs register.
According to the Council, the details will be presented as a memorandum to the Subsidiary Legislation Committee of Parliament.
The New Juaben Traditional Council is serving parliament the memorandum as a protestation to their exemption from the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs register following a restructuring exercise.
According to the President of the New Juaben Traditional Area, Daasebre Oti Boateng, it was suspicious the manner in which the President of the House had sidelined the New Juaben Traditional Council in the drawing of the register.
They claim their exemption “offends ACT 759 and the lofty sacredness of the Chieftaincy Institution.”
“The situation calls for a soul-searching research and this should be of interest to your Parliamentary Committee,” they stated in a press release dated July 30, 2020.
They are therefore submitting the memorandum to seek redress on the matter.
“The attached is the said compendium of the prequel and sequel plus Press Release on the capricious selection of the membership of ERHC being unilaterally canvassed by the President of Eastern Region House of Chiefs,” they said.
