A new, pressure group, the Patriotic Forces which is vigorously emerging from the New Patriotic Party’s fold has launched a massive crusade to forcefully push Mr. Daniel Kweku Botwe to contest the up coming NPP flagbearership contest come 2008 presidential election.
The Free Press says strategies to hook potential delegates to be responsible for electing an NPP flagbearer into his camp are far hatched.
The paper quotes one of the leaders of the Patriotic Forces, Dr. Samuel K. Agyei, as saying that the front has put in place a strategy not only for Mr. Botwe to win the NPP flagbearership contest but also to increase its representation in Parliament to at least 170 members.
“Dan is a known and proven political strategist and an accomplished researcher so there is no doubt that he will sweep massive votes if his candidature is brought to the fore,” according to the paper.
Dr. Agyei told the Free Press that the group is firmly on the ground and determined to deal a severe blow to the other parties, stressing that every where Dan goes, both the youth and the old clamour for presidential ambition.
Mr. Mohammed Iddrisu, a known NPP kingpin in the Northern Region who is also a member of the Patriotic Front contended that Dan Botwe, they know, is a threat to people's ambition and they would find every way to peddle some rumour to let his followers lose confidence in him.
Dan will not be found wanting when it comes to academic laurels, they argued.
A citation which was presented to Dan Botwe by the group said among other things that Mr. Botwe was one person within the NPP who had the natural ability to inspire the rank and file of the party for battle in 2008.
