A board member of Hearts of Oak says the Phobians top four finish in the just-ended league can be attributed to new man Can Vanli.
After parting ways with Herbert Addo with 21 matchdays played, the Accra giants first put former goalkeepers' trainer Eddie Ansah in charge only to make an emergency recruitment of the Turkish gaffer when things were not going well.
“I think there are some introductions in the team that he (Vanli) has made in terms of ball possession. There are new things he has introduced to the club and we cannot take that away from him," Frank Nelson says.
The Phobians had been dire for most of the season and, in the final six games, were even flirting with the drop.
With five league games to end the season, Vanli was brought to complement the efforts of the technical team. Coupled with the club's win of points from the Disciplinary Committee of the FA, Hearts finished fourth position with 43 points.
“The Board will make decisions in that regard. We don’t want to go into next season thinking we cannot win the league or not do better in Africa, I think he can help us,” Nelson told Citi FM.
