The Member of Parliament for Zebilla, Mr. John Ndebugre has been warned not to dare and contest his seat as an independent candidate.
The PNC MP will lose the seat to the National Democratic Congress Cletus Avoka if he leaves his mother party.
The Daily Dispatch newspaper sounded the caution following reports that Mr. Ndebugre plans to contest the seat as an independent candidate.
His decision follows serious disagreements with his party leadership.
He is convinced that he will retain the seat even if he contests as an independent candidate in the December polls.
But the paper says that is a dangerous path to thread.
“The PNC’s parliamentary candidate, Ndebugre won the seat in 2004 by only 113 votes. If he contests as an independent, the NDC’s Avoka will be returning to parliament,” the paper pointed out.
In the last elections, Mr. Ndebugre of the PNC polled 11,026 to beat his closest rival Mr. Avoka of the NDC who obtained 10,913.
The NPP’s Appiah N. Abaare had 8,921 representing 27.4 per cent rising from 1,376 in the 2000 elections.
