The Youth Forum of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) over the weekend presented items worth about three million cedis to the Bawjiase orphanage in the Central Region.
The items included bags of rice, cooking oil, packs of Juvita Drinks, Ice Cooler, a box of Key soap, toilet rolls, buckets and drinking Cups.
Presenting the items, Abdul Karim, NDC Youth Forum Chairman said the donation was in line with the party’s philosophy of “Social Democracy” that was getting in touch with the ordinary Ghanaian, irrespective of his or her political affiliation.
Mr. Karim said, the donation was to demonstrate to the world that NDC does not only talk, but also “walk the talk”… “in short this was a practical aspect of what the party believes in.”
“We would like to take this opportunity to invite the general public, especially individuals and institution who feel the suffering of deprived children to sponsor and donate to orphanages dotted around the country to help feed these unfortunate children.
“Give a gift from the heart to help support a child through an Orphanage would continue to be the greatest contribution to the development of a nation,” he said.
Elated by the presentation, Madam Ema Yeboah assured the NDC that all donations would go into organizing programmes to feed, clothe, and educate the children.
Sounding poetic, Madam Yeboah noted: “Together, Anything is possible! Give a Gift from Your Heart! Someone won’t have to go hungry for another day.
“There is no better way to help children, so please tell your friends of the good work, we can do together to reduce the suffering of our children.”
The Mother of the Orphanage also commended Professor John Evans Atta Mills, NDC Flag bearer for elections 2008 for paying a visit to the Home to interact and share with the children.
Baba Lamin, former NDC Member of Parliament for Awutu-Efutu Senya constituency and leading members from the constituency and the region were present at the ceremony.
