NDC woos businessmen

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in its attempt to boost the private sector development has started rigorous efforts at wooing business interests in the country, after the Electoral Commission (EC) had declared its Presidential candidate, Prof. John Evans Atta Mills, as the winner of the run-off elections. At a cocktail organized by sympathizers of the NDC last Sunday to liaise with the known NPP and NDC businessmen, and to assure them of their safety under the presidency of Prof. Mills, the NDC leadership reiterated the party’s commitment of helping to promote businesses and assured them that the party will not engage in unnecessary witch-hunting. Ms. Hannah Tetteh, the Communications Director of the NDC and now the spokesperson for the NDC Transitional team, said nothing untoward would be done to any business interest, irrespective of political affiliations. According to her, it was the pledge of the NDC to help the private sector to expand their businesses, thereby creating jobs for the people. According to Ms. Tetteh, once the struggle for power was over, there was the need to start the serious work of nation-building. Some businessmen and women gathered at the cocktail to fraternize expressed excitement over the assurance of the NDC. To them, it was refreshing that the belief of the NDC ermbarking on persecution and political vendetta, had been disabused through the assurances given. “We believe that Prof. Mills will deliver on his manifesto, and now that we have received a double assurance from the party leadership, we can only hope and pray that the party stands firm in its assurance, so that together we can help build a better Ghana,” one businessman told this paper. The cocktail saw party bigwigs and business tycoons in attendance. Source: Chronicle
