The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Regional Communications Director for Upper West, Prosper Puo-Ire says the party is optimistic about regaining lost seats in the upcoming December 2020 elections.
According to him, losing five parliamentary seats in 2016 to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) was a mistake never to be repeated again.
He was speaking to Woezor TV's Eric Ahianyo concerning former president John Dramani Mahama's ongoing campaign tour in the northern regions.
"The euphoria and enthusiasm that surrounded the incoming president's arrival to the region suggest that we as a people have come to realize that we have been misled.
"We are waiting patiently for December 7 to correct our wrong," he said.
Mr Puo-Ire emphasised that despite all measures to ensure the former president's arrival in the region did not draw large crowds, the zeal and ardour with which he was received by members of the community even at night was record-breaking.
On his part, the former Deputy Upper West Regional Minister, Kale Cesar, added that the people of the region identify with John Mahama as one of their own, making him a favourite to win the elections in that area.
"He [Mahama] is a chief both in Nandom and Dawala, and that's why he's seen as one of the people.
The crowd he pulls is not an illusion, because his efforts are unmatched, especially in reference to the developmental projects he undertook during his time as president," he concluded.
