The Central Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Light Koomson, has predicted that the party will win not less than 15 parliamentary seats in the region in the December general polls.
He said during the NDC flag-bearer's recent campaign tour of the region, it was obvious that the people in the region had resolved to return the NDC to power.
In an interview with the Daily Graphic, Mr Koomson said "the people in the region are ready to support the son of the land to win the elections".
He said the NDC lost the 2000 and 2004 elections because Ghanaians were yearning for a change in government.
This time round, he said, the people had seen that there was nothing to gain from the change in government and that the people were now ready to vote Prof Atta Mills to power.
He said the NDC would not be intimidated by the large rallies of the NPP in the region recently, knowing very well that the supporters were transported in large buses from one constituency to the other.
Mr Koomson said the NDC had put in place a machinery to ensure that there was no rigging in the region in this year's election, adding that we would know who really was popular in the region.
He said Prof. Mills' campaign was more interactive meeting people in the communities and added that the response was great. "We are wining the region and after December we will know who was living in deception,” he said.
The Regional Propaganda Secretary of the party, Mr Allotey Jacobs, said the party would not allow itself to be intimidated by incumbency during the election, adding that the NDC was sure to win the
elections.
He described Prof. Mills' campaign as a community-based interactive one aimed at wining the elections hands down.
He said this year's election was not about parties but about personalities, adding that Ghanaians were now discerning and ready to vote the NPP out of power.
He said the chiefs, opinion leaders and youth leaders in the region were all solidly behind the party, adding that the party would pull a surprise in the region.
