The National Democratic Congress has targeted to win 14 out of the 19 Parliamentary seats in the Central region, says Benjamin Allotey Jacobs, Regional Propaganda Secretary of the party.
Mr Allotey-Jacobs mentioned the constituencies as Effutu, Awutu Senya, Agona West, Agona East, Asikuma-Odoben Brakwa, Mfantseman West and Mfantseman East.
The rest are Cape Coast, Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese, Komenda- Edina- Eguafo Abrem, Atti Mokwa, Assin South and Assin North.
Mr Allotey-Jacobs said that the NDC had learnt its lessons from the 2004 elections and was putting in place the necessary strategies to win the 2008 elections.
In the 2004 elections, the NDC won only two seats in the region, where incidentally its presidential candidate, Professor John Evans Atta Mills comes from.
He said a total 30 people have filed their nominations to contest 16 parliamentary seats.
Four of the aspirants namely Ebo Barton Oduro, Mike Hammah, Veronica Esseeman Nelson and Nkrumah Aboa, contested in Cape Coast, Effutu, Komenda-Edina-Eguafo Abrem and Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa constituencies respectively on the party's ticket the in the 2004 Parliamentary elections.
He said the party had started the vetting of the nominees and added that the party will ensure that the candidates that emerge are popular choices.
