The opposition NDC has slammed Chief Justice Gertrude Torkonoo and the Supreme Court for scheduling the case of their MP, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, against the approval of President Akufo-Addo's ministerial nominees ahead of an action filed by journalist and media practitioner Richard Dela Sky against the controversial Anti-LGBTQ bill passed by Parliament.
These two cases are at the center of the impasse between the Executive and the Legislature.
Member of Parliament for South Dayi, Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor.
In Mr Dafeamekpor's lawsuit against the Speaker of Parliament (1st defendant) and the Attorney General (2nd defendant), the NDC legislator argued that the President should have sought parliamentary approval before reassigning ministers whose appointments were revoked.
This was after the Speaker of Parliament intimated that he would not supervise the approval of the President Minister-nominees until he takes a decision on the recently passed Anti-LGBTQ Bill.
Prior to this, President Akufo-Addo demonstrated his hesitation to sign the controversial bill into law over the case brought to the apex court by Mr Sky.
With the hearing for the NDC MP's case scheduled for today, the NDC says this schedule exposes a plot by the court to assist the government in getting their nominees through Parliament and stalling executive action on the Anti-LGBTQ bill.
