The Asawase MP, Muntaka Mubarak has welcomed suggestions that the Chief Justice should probe into his allegation against a Supreme Court Judge.
Speaking to JoyNews' Joseph Opoku Gakpo, he stated that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Caucus will be ready to provide evidence to any team the Justice Kwasi Anin-Yeboah asks to investigate the issue.
"That will be right because that gives all of us the opportunity to put some of these things beyond just mentioning, but we will look forward to whatever they want to do," he said.
On Sunday, the Chief Whip of the NDC Caucus in Parliament disclosed that a Supreme Court Judge had tried to bribe NDC MPs to get them to vote for Prof. Mike Oquaye as Speaker.
According to him, although the judge’s motive was not achieved, the party will probe the issue and take the appropriate steps if necessary.
Following his statement, many people called for some investigations and clearance on the issue.
Dean of the UPSA Law School Dr Kofi Abotsi also urged the Chief Justice to take the allegation seriously and investigate the issue.
Asked whether the NDC Caucus will petition the Chief Justice over the issue, Mr Muntaka said that would amount to Parliament interfering in the work of the Judiciary.
"As an MP reaching out to the judicial arm, I find that in our democratic settings it is not proper. I can assure you that if it becomes necessary we ill appear there with our evidence.
He added that if he feels strongly about it he would prefer to raise the issue in Parliament so a committee would be formed to investigate.
