The NDC Parliamentary candidate for Agona West is currently in police custody over alleged plots to assassinate the Gender Minister.
Paul Ofori-Amuah is said to be assisting police in their investigations into allegations by the security agency after a complaint was filed by the Cynthia Mamle Morrison.
The Minister had alleged that some four persons earlier picked up by the police are plotting to take her life.
Mr Ofori-Amuah is said to have admitted issuing two cheques found with the suspects in their hotel room in Swedru in the Central Region where they were arrested on October 17.
"Police invited Mr Paul Ofori-Amoah who has also reported at the regional headquarters...he has admitted of issuing the two bank cheques that were picked by the police at the hotel during the search in the rooms and on the suspects," the Central Regional Police Command said.
In an interview with JoyNews, Public Relations Officer for the Police in the region, DSP Irene Oppong explained that the parliamentary candidate's caution statement has been taken.
DSP Oppong further told Joy News' Richard Kwadwo Nyarko that Mr Ofori-Amuah has been charged with preparations to commit crime and abetment to commit crime.
She urged the public to volunteer "any information connected to the 4 persons who were arrested on suspicion at Swedru on October 17 2020, the general public should contact police on 18555."
The Police also urged the media "to contact police on all information concerning this case and we are ready to give updates periodically as we continue with our investigations."
