Mr Tawiah Boateng, Eastern Regional Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has said that the Party was strategizing to win majority of votes in the urban areas and maintain its dominance in rural areas during 2008 general elections.
He therefore asked Party adherents especially those being trained as polling agents to be mindful of this development and develop the necessary attitudes to confront challenges during the elections.
Mr Boateng announced this when addressing Party activists in New Juaben South Constituency at Koforidua.
He said under-development had become a problem in urban areas than the rural areas and the Party would use its social democratic credentials to sway majority of urban voters to its fold.
Mr Boateng pointed out that for the party to win the elections massively, there was the need for extreme care and vigilance at polling centres to ensure the votes were not rigged.
He said Party agents should monitor scrupulously, activities of the community police to ensure they did not dabble in the electioneering process to the disadvantage of minority parties.
Mr Andrews Awuku, New Juaben Constituency Chairman of the Party, pledged to make revitalization of polling stations a priority in the run-up to the elections to avoid rigging.
