The Communications Director of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah, says the integrity of this year’s election will be marred if the winning National Democratic Congress (NDC) leaders fail to call their supporters to order.
In a post on X, Mr Ahiagbah said NDC supporters are determined to disrupt the work of the Electoral Commission (EC), and if the NDC leadership does not stop their supporters from disturbing the process, the NPP will also react.
“The NDC must call its members, who are determined to overrun the Electoral Commission, to order, lest they mar the beauty of the 2024 general elections and their historic victory,” he stated.
He alleged that NDC supporters are assaulting some NPP parliamentarians who have won in their respective constituencies.
According to him, these MPs-elect should not fear the actions of the aggrieved NDC supporters, as the party is available to defend them.
“To the NPP parliamentary candidates who are being unduly attacked, harassed, and intimidated by the overzealous NDC supporters, stand firm, knowing that you have the full backing of the party.”
He added, “We are the New Patriotic Party, down but not out. We shall rise again. Kukrudu!!!”

In a press conference on Sunday, December 8, the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Mensa, said the Commission has taken note of how party supporters from some political parties are disrupting the collation activities in some regions.
Some NDC supporters have allegedly disrupted the electoral process at Dome Kwabenya in the Greater Accra Region, with a similar incident reported in Kasoa in the Central Region.
In the Damongo constituency, some NDC supporters have allegedly set the District EC office on fire, destroying election materials.
The EC Chairperson has also urged the public to exercise patience as it works on making the full results of the poll available.
