The controversial NDC Member of Parliament for Lower Manya Krobo, Mr Michael Teye Nyaunu was on Tuesday March 4, 2008 heckled and booed by supporters of the party.
Mr. Nyaunu suffered the ordeal in his own constituency when he addressed a rally at which the flag bearer of the party was present.
The MP in February this year suggested that the presidential candidate of the NDC Prof. Mills was not medically fit contest the December elections.
But his comments attracted widespread condemnation from the rank and file of the party.
Even though he was hurled to the party’s office by the NDC leadership and rebuked culminating in his apologizing for the comments, it appears he has not been forgiven by the electorate in his constituency.
After introducing Prof. Mills to various groups and traditional leaders earlier in the day, the MP attempted to do damage control by trying to revisit the matter.
The angry crowd who had gathered to listen to Prof. Mills had no patience for Mr. Nyaunu and yelled at him.
He had to be led down from the podium to avert further embarrassment.
Prof. Mills who was in the constituency to begin his tour of eight regions called for unity in the party.
