NDC campaign team must be more serious with issues- Group

The Concerned Voters Movement (CVM) has asked former President John Dramani Mahama to be more serious with issues of national concern during his campaigns.

According to the group, the campaign style and messages of the former President for the 2020 general election has been full of humour and distortions.

“The Leadership of the Concerned Voters Movement (CVM)  has taken time to peruse the manifesto document of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and keenly monitors the commentaries from its Communications Bureau, which indicated that the NDC under the leadership of John Mahama is not ready for the 2020 elections,” a statement signed by Founder of the group said.

Razak Kojo Opoku in the statement further said the group had observed that the campaign messages, policy alternatives as well as strategies of the NDC for December 7, 2020 elections are "comedies that do not appeal to the mases."

He added that the NDC might not see positive results in the upcoming elections if nothing is done about its mode of campaigning as well as the messages preached to the Ghanaian public.

They group has also expressed concern over the silence of big wigs of the party, including former President of the Republic Jerry John Rawlings, on the campaign strategy of the party.

"It seems the NDC is campaigning for its second defeat and the silence and a show of lack of concern by wise men in the party including; the former President Jerry John Rawlings, is very worrying.

The group further demanded the inclusion of NDC stalwarts who have played important roles in ensuring the victory of the party in past times in decision making.

"Prof. Joshua Alabi, the 2020 Campaign Manager for John Mahama, has been missing in action," the group said.

They added that Mr Mahama must address the citizenry on how he intends to revive the economy in the post-Covid era.

"What Ghanaians care about most is the post Covid-19 comprehensive rebuilding of the Ghanaian economy and not the policy of mortuary and okada proposed by Mr Mahama.

"That is not the solutions to the rebuilding of the Post Covid-19 Ghanaian economy. The rebuilding of the Ghanaian economy is about strategic policies that will strengthen the Ghanaian economy," they added.
