Highlife musician and entrepreneur, Rex Omar, has been tasked by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to lead activities regarding creatives ahead of the forthcoming general election.
In a communique sighted by myjoyonline.com, the party indicates that Rex Omar is "the lead representative with the mandate to mobilise and organise stakeholders in the creative industry" to help in campaign activities in a build up to the December 7, 2024 election.
Rex Omar who is one of the NDC's communicators on the creative arts policies of their manifesto, has been chosen to speak for the party at Joy FM’s forthcoming Manifesto Debate on Creative Economy. Also representing NDC is Sadiq Abdullai Abu aka Baba Sadiq (NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Okaikoi Central Constituency).
From the camp of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will be the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mark Okraku-Mantey and the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Akwasi Agyeman.
This event which will be held on September 14, 2024, will bring together stakeholders of Ghana’s tourism, arts and culture in the studio of Joy Prime for the 5th edition of Joy FM’s Showbiz Roundtable.
This season, Joy FM is offering the thought-leadership platform for political parties to present their policy ideas on Ghana’s creative economy.
Dubbed MANIFESTO DEBATE ON CREATIVE ECONOMY, the programme will air live on Joy FM and Joy Prime on September 14, 2024, from 2 PM to 6 PM.
The event hosted by Kwame Dadzie, produced by Philip Nai and Anita Teye, is powered by Showbiz A-Z, your most authoritative entertainment talk show in Ghana.

Rex is one of the leading musicians in Ghana who he has also trained as a management professional specializing in intellectual property rights being one of the leading authorities on the subject in Ghana.
Rex Owusu Marfo was originally elected as Chairman of GHAMRO (Ghana Music Rights Organization) in March 2017 to serve a four year-term and has been re- elected to serve a second term.
His talent and knowledge of the music industry has gained him several positions in the industry as a former Vice President of the Copyright Society of Ghana and a member of the 2013 Committee for National Intellectual Property and Policy Strategy. He is the former head of Business and Finance of the Musician Union of Ghana. Rex Omar is a Member of "SUISSA" Copyright Society of Switzerland and is on publishing contract with EMI (Germany).
On the political scene, Rex has been the advisor to the former president and minority Party, the National Democratic Congress advising the Party on the importance and development of the creative arts in the cultural and entertainment industry in Ghana. He has also been the Party’s public spokesperson on matters relating to this industry.
