Western Regional Minister, Anthony Evans Amoah has said that the National Identification Programme is not a political project, but a national exercise to register all Ghanaians for development purposes. Addressing a Peoples' Assembly at Juabeso, Mr Amoah asked the people to keenly participate in the programme when it takes off, and urged the clergy and other religious leaders to explain the exercise, as well as, the proposed re-denomination of the cedi to the people. He reiterated that redenomination would not change the value of the cedi. Mr Amoah also touched on a World Bank-sponsored Small Towns Water Project and said it was being implemented in seven out of 13 districts in the region. He noted that although beneficiary communities are required to finance part of the project, many of them could not raise funds for it and asked those needy communities to approach their district assemblies for assistance.
