Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Vice Presidential Candidate of the NPP, has urged the people of Gonjaland to vote for leaders who have shown a genuine commitment to development.
According to him, the purpose of democracy is to foster development, and voters must select leaders who prioritize their needs and deliver tangible progress.
Dr. Prempeh emphasised that no political party in Ghana rivals the NPP’s track record in development, pointing out that the NPP government has introduced more social interventions and implemented more projects nationwide, including in Gonjaland, than any other administration.
He made these remarks during a courtesy visit to the Overlord of Gonjaland, Yagbonwura Bikunuto Jewu Soale I, at the Ndewura Jakpa Palace in Damango on Thursday, November 7, 2024.
The visit was part of his campaign tour in the Northern Region, focused on constituency engagement.
Affectionately known as Napo, Dr. Prempeh stated, “In politics, the leader who addresses your needs and brings development, even if he’s not from your hometown, deserves your vote. Development matters more than familial ties.”
He cited the creation of the Savannah Region under the NPP as a significant achievement for Gonjaland, as it has catalyzed numerous projects in the area.
Highlighting the NPP’s commitment, Dr. Prempeh noted that the demand for the Savannah Region, advocated for over 40 years, was finally fulfilled by President Akufo-Addo, who hails from the Eastern Region.
He added that former President John Mahama, a native of the area, was unable to meet this promise. "The one who helps you progress is your true ally, not necessarily someone of your kin," he remarked, calling on Gonjaland residents to consider the NPP’s contributions when they head to the polls.
