Nana Akufo- Addo and NPP deserve victory

Nana Akufo-Addo and the New Patriotic Party deserve our votes to maintain the party in power for another term. Our reasons for this call are neither born of mischief nor partisanship. A sober and careful evaluation of the Kufuor- led administration will leave no voter in doubt that the party that gave birth to that government and the presidential candidate have performed so creditably that if given another mandate, Ghanaians will see more development and transformation of our society. Permit us dear reader, to share with you a few of the good things that the NPP government has brought into being for which reason we are entreating all well meaning Ghanaians to vote to retain them in power. Freedom of expression and of the media President Kufuor and his NPP government have taken freedom of expression to new heights. Indeed they have expanded the frontiers of freedom beyond one’s wildest imagination as an African. This has come about as a result of the repeal of the criminal libel law which was done with such haste and demonstrable commitment. Interestingly, this was done under the leadership of Nana Akufo-Addo, then the Attorney-General. Again, president Kufuor and his government have so demystified political leadership in a manner that has never been known in Ghana. That, an African president would subject himself to the ordinary man and woman on the street to quiz him on every subject of national life, and even to the extent that extremists can insult him in the face and walk away freely, is something only President Kufuor and NPP can do. Health To have had the political will and courage to implement the National Health Insurance Scheme within such a record short time, must be appreciated by all. Be mindful, dear reader, of the fact that the previous government after 19 years in office can only claim to have piloted it. The free Medicare for our pregnant wives, mothers, and sisters is very commendable and heartwarming. Education
  1. The Model School concept in all the districts of the country.
  2. Supply of buses to all private universities to support teaching and learning;
  3. Unprecedented infrastructural development in all tertiary institutions (Universities, Polytechniques, etc.)
  4. Capitation Grant to make education free at the basic level
  5. Free School Feeding Program.
  6. The free bus ride for school children
  7. Upgrading and retooling of all teacher training colleges to diploma awarding institutions.
  8. Infrastructure
    1. Bui dam project
    2. Massive road construction across the entire country (All artillery roads from Accra:
    3. Accra- Kumasi, Accra- Yamoransa, and Accra- Sogakope)
    4. Breathtaking and monumental presidential palace, which must be the pride of all Ghanaians.
    5. Expansion of water dams across the country (Weija and kpong, Barekese, Tamale,
    6. Capecoast, Ho, Koforidua etc.)
    7. Two new sports stadiums
    8. Complete reconstruction of two existing stadiums.
    Others
    1. Millennium Challenge Account grants ($547,000,000) as a result of good governance practices.
    2. The establishment of the Metro Mass Transit System.
    3. Restoration of wrongfully confiscated assets to promote national reconciliation.
    4. Refocusing the GNPC on its core function which has led to the discovery of oil in commercial quantities
    5. Successful redenomination of the cedi
    6. Promotion of sports (Ghana qualifies for the world cup for the first time in our history.)
    7. Uplifting the image of the country which has made Ghana a preferred centre for international conferences (UNCTAD VII, CLIMATE CHANGE, AID EFFECTIVENESS etc.)
Dear valued reader, I hope you are more than convinced now, as I am. Vote for Nana Akufo-Addo and NPP. Thank you. Credit: Nana Frimpong and Baraka; Tescon Alumni.
