The Ashanti Regional Secretariat of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has cautioned the public to be careful in handling fires for any purposes either at homes, markets, farm land, workplaces or in the forests in the wake of the dry season.
It said information from the Meteorological Agency indicated that there was going to be a continuous one week very dry weather in the Region with relative humidity below 20 per cent.
According to a statement signed by Mr Benedict Asobayire of the Regional NADMO Secretariat and issued in Kumasi on Wednesday, the weather situation was likely to result in both domestic and bushfire outbreaks and therefore called for greater care by the residents.
The statement urged the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) to be very vigilant and alert in responding to emergency situations and further appealed to the general public to be careful in handling the cedi notes since they can be very dry and easily tear.
It advised the public to endeavour to drink more water against dehydration.
