Parents of the three children said to have suffocated to death in an abandoned car are demanding the immediate release of the bodies for burial. The children, all below age three died mysteriously at Alogbloshie in Accra some three weeks ago and their bodies deposited at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital morgue. The Standard Board and Pathology department at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital are said to be conducting a test to identify the cause of the deaths following high suspicions the children were poisoned. Preliminary investigations reveal foreign substances in their stomachs and have delayed investigations. The police have instructed the bodies be kept pending the completion of the investigation. But the parents insist they can no longer bare the mortuary cost imposed on them by the continuous confinement of the bodies. “What I am trying to say is that it is our body so they should release the bodies to us to go and bury so we can do other things. If we have to wait for the examination or the results of the whole thing then they have to take care of the body,” Samuel Anane, spokesperson of the parents told Joy News in an interview on Friday. Media reports of the bodies decaying have increased their anxiety to have the bodies released to them. Mr. Anane said they cannot be made to bury rotten bodies of their beloved children.
