A former Education Minister, Prof Dominic Fobih, has clarified that his recent marriage over the weekend is not his ninth union as speculated.
But the professor of psychology did not specifically clarify whether he had been married and divorced in the past or not.
Videos of the festive ceremony of the former Assin South legislator went viral sparking speculation that the Octogenarian had just taken a supposed 27-year-old wife.
Speaking on Accra-based Starr FM, he also denied this stating that his new wife is rather 31 years old.
“I don’t have nine wives, I have one wife, I just got married. I didn’t have a wife before so I’ve just got married. Who in Ghana has nine wives.? If anybody is commenting on nine wives the person has been misled,” he said on Tuesday, May 9.
During the ceremony, the politician was dressed in a Kente cloth and his new wife wore a white and gold beaded-laced corset gown.
Prof Fobih held his wife’s waist with his right hand, while she had her hands on his shoulders.
A heartfelt appreciation message accompanied their picture: “Thank you for being with us on this special occasion and making it the most memorable day of our lives – Mr and Mrs Dominic Fobih.”
Speaking on the radio show on Tuesday, the statesman added that “I’m a very strong-willed person and I’m always convinced about what I decide to do and is best for me.”
“I know why I’m doing this, and so they can tell all sorts of things. I didn’t marry for anybody, I married for myself,” he added.
Born on July 16, 1942, Dominic Fobih was a legislator from January 2001 to January 2017 representing the New Patriotic Party.
He served as the Minister of Lands, Forestry, and Mines during Ex-President John Agyekum Kufour’s administration and was a lecturer at the University of Cape Coast.
