New Real Madrid signing, Kylian Mbappé has described his move to the European Champions as a dream fulfilled.
During his presentation on Tuesday, images surfaced of a 13-year-old Mbappé alongside Zinédine Zidane at Real Madrid’s Valdebebas training ground.
Although he initially opted for a different route, joining AS Monaco and later Paris Saint-Germain, his path has finally led him to Madrid.
This summer, Mbappé left PSG as a free agent, two years after turning down an offer from Real Madrid to stay in Paris. Unlike before, he chose not to renew his contract with PSG and instead signed with Real Madrid, taking the iconic No.9 jersey.
Due to the summer’s European Championship, Mbappé’s presentation was delayed. However, he was eventually introduced to 80,000 eager Real Madrid fans at a packed Santiago Bernabéu.
"It is incredible to be here," the Frenchman said.
"I have dreamed of playing for Real Madrid for years. My dream is fulfilled today. I am a particularly happy young man," he stated.
Mbappé was presented to the spectators by Real Madrid president, Fiorentino Perez.
"I want to thank Florentino Perez, who warmly welcomed me from the first day.
"There have been lots of twists but I’m here. I also want to thank everyone who worked for me to come here. We did it – I’m a Real Madrid player,” he announced.
Mbappe will wear the number 9 jersey which was previously used by his Le Bleu teammate, Karim Benzema.
