The NPP MP for Akuapem North Constituency, Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah-Adjei, has rubbished claims that she is neglecting her constituency and government duties.
According to her, despite attempts by some party bigwigs to ‘unseat and torment’ her, she remains faithful to the party.
“My commitment to the party and government remain intact,” she said in a statement on Facebook.
Giving further details, the Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry said while concerns have been raised by some party supporters within the constituency over the intimidations and abuse of members in various electoral areas by alleged national security operatives, she has initiated measures to have the issue addressed.
"The party structures and other available avenues will be used to address the concerns of my constituents. That, I can assure you all. I, therefore, urge everyone to disregard any news suggesting that I will abandon my responsibilities because of the infractions," she stressed.
Background
On Friday, March 18, some disgruntled members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Akuapem North Constituency in the Eastern Region went to the high court to restrain the party from holding an election in the constituency.
Their lawyers filed the application to stop the party from conducting elections to elect polling stations and constituency executives.
The angry party executives raised concern over the intimidations and wanton abuse of members in various electoral areas by alleged national security operatives who were imported into the constituency by a party bigwig planning to contest in the constituency.
According to the party executives, the injunction has also become necessary due to a series of infractions and irregularities that have been unearthed and have marred the whole electoral process.
They claimed the machinations and manipulations come across as an attempt to unseat the incumbent, Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah-Adjei.
