The Member of Parliament for Yagaba-Kubori Constituency, Mustapha Ussif has commissioned two health facilities in the Mamprugu Moagduri district in the North East Region.
One of the facilities, located at Kubori is a 15-bed capacity maternity ward with a theatre, delivery ward, and a public health unit.
Although the project was initiated by the community members, it was completed and furnished by Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia when it caught his attention during a tour of the region.
The second project, located at Yizeisi is also a 6-bed facility with a delivery room and other auxiliary facilities.
It was completed with funding from the District Assembly Performance Assessment Tool (DPAT).
Each facility is expected to serve over 2000 residents and non-residents within and outside the district.
Speaking at the Commissioning, Mr. Ussif expressed gratitude to the residents for voting for him and helping to retain President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Bawumia in power.
He also thanked the Vice President for his generous contribution towards development in the Yagaba-Kubori Constituency.
The facility he added, "will go a long way to save our wives from the stress of traveling long distances before they can deliver.
“It will also help to reduce maternal mortality and improve prenatal care in the Constituency.”
He also admonished constituents to adhere to the Covid-19 protocols in order to curb the spread of the virus.
The Chief of Gundow (Gundowraana), Alhaji Tampuri Salifu who spoke on behalf of the Kubori Traditional Council, thanked the Vice President for completing the facility and assured him of their support, prayers, and blessings during the second term of the Akufo-Addo-led government.
He appealed to the people to play their roles as citizens and support the health personnel posted to health facilities.
Mr. Ussif who is also the Minister-designate for Youth and Sports was joined by the Acting DCE, Abu Adams, the District Health Director, and other dignitaries to officially commission the two separate facilities in the two communities.
