Former Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Dr Mustapha Hamid, has emerged as the leading candidate in the race for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) First Vice Chairman position, according to a poll by Global InfoAnalytics.
Dr Hamid secured 18.3% of voter preferences, narrowly ahead of Henry Nana Boakye and Nana Akomea, who each polled 17.5%.
The poll places Kojo Fosu Boaudu in fourth position with 5.6%, followed by Masawudu Osman with 4.5% and Richard Ahiagbah with 3.8%.
Yaa A. Frimpong recorded 3.1%, while Abena Pokuaa Amoah polled 1.4%. Samuel Yeyune and Abankwa Yeboah each secured 1.3%.
Other candidates, including Horma Miezah (0.7%), Bright Essilfie Kumi (0.1%) and Richard Oti Aboagye (0.0%), recorded comparatively lower levels of support.
However, the poll also shows a significant level of uncertainty, with 19.7% of respondents undecided.
The findings come ahead of the NPP’s national executive elections scheduled for October, where members of the party will elect new national officers.
The figures suggest a closely contested race among the leading candidates, with Dr Hamid holding only a slight margin over Nana Boakye and Nana Akomea.
