Kojo Soboh (Founder, EMY Africa Awards)

Founder of the Exclusive Men of the Year (EMY) Africa Awards, Kojo Soboh, has revealed that collaborating with the music group 'Rana' was challenging for him because he was chasing other aspirations, making it difficult to focus fully on his career in music.

According to him, he had always dreamt of pursuing music, so when the opportunity to finally make his dreams a reality presented itself after completing his university education, he grabbed it.

Speaking to Amelley Djosu on the Joy Prime's Celeb Biz, Kojo Soboh revealed that as time went on, he joined the Rana music group but only got the opportunity to live his dream for a short while as he started focusing on other career paths. According to him, juggling other careers and music was tough, fueling his decision to finally quit music.

“Working together was hard because even though we all wanted to do music, we also wanted to do other things. So finding time to do music was hard. We all just had to go our separate ways and focus on the other things we wanted to do,” he stated.

He explained that although his music career didn’t take the turn he desired, he doesn’t consider it a failure as he acquired skills which helped him operate his current businesses successfully. Accordingly, everything people go through in life, whether good or bad, is meant to strengthen and equip them for future endeavors.

"God always has plans for everyone, and at the appointed time, He steers people to the right paths for their own benefit," he added.

Mr. Soboh mentioned that all the knowledge and skills acquired from the Rana music group have made it easy for him to understand showbiz and all it requires to put a good show together.

The EMY Awards have become very popular in Ghana thanks to how well coordinated they are. He explained that he goes as far as choosing songs for musicians and advising them on how to perform them to suit the theme of the awards ceremony.

“I understand performance based on being in the Rana group. I understand entertainment. I know what I want from artists on my show. Sometimes I even send them songs to perform. I do the same for stylists as well. So we produce a show everyone enjoys thanks to the things I learned from the music scene."

Founder of the Exclusive Men of the Year (EMY) awards, Kojo Soboh, advised people looking to run successful businesses to stop chasing only money and focus more on showing gratitude and building good relationships with people who can contribute positively to the growth of their business.

"Building healthy relationships with people in the world of business makes it easier to get many opportunities and opens doors for many partnerships," he added.
