The Police at Kpalime in the Volta Region have arrested Pastor Dan Etse Agbeko, Leader and Founder of Jesus Prayer Camp, a healing centre and church located in Dzemeni, also in the region, on suspicion of killing an elder of the church after snatching his wife.
A certain Ege, an alleged accomplice and member of the church, has also been arrested.
The deceased, Robert Dordoe, a secretary of the church, was found dead at Dzemeni in the early hours of last Monday, after news had broken in his vicinity that he could not be traced.
The police suspected foul play as there were bruises on the body.
Before Roberts' death, Pastor Agbeko was alleged to have snatched his (Robert's) wife, and on several occasions allegedly threatened to deal with Robert - a development which was said to have created tension between the two men.
Narrating her story to the Daily Guide, the woman alleged to be in the middle of the two men, Mawuli Dugbaza said her husband was last seen on Sunday evening by a member of the church who had come looking for him at his house.
In the early hours of Monday, the church member returned to Robert's house, and after several knocks on his door without any response, he became suspicious, moreso when he noticed that the door was locked from inside.
The attention of neighbours was drawn to the development.
Unable to force the door open, concerned residents forced open the window and to their horror, saw Robert lying prostrate on his bed, dead.
A report was made to the Kpalime Police who arrested the suspects, Agbeko and Ege. The body has been deposited at the Peki Government Hospital morgue awaiting autopsy.
Giving a background to the tragic end of Robert, Mawuli, the woman at the centre of the drama, said about three years ago, Agbeko told her and the deceased that he had a vision which revealed to him that she could never bear children for Robert, her husband.
According to her, upon hearing the pastor's prophecy, she asked for prayers from him to safeguard her against such a misfortune, but the pastor insisted that there was no way out except for her to allow him to have sex with her, as revealed by the Holy Spirit - a demand Mawuli said she strongly objected to.
She alleged that one day during her visit to the prayer camp, Pastor Agbeko lured her into a room, under the pretext of praying for her and forcibly had sex with her, followed by another one on a different day, resulting in a pregnancy.
Mawuli told Daily Guide that after the pregnancy, the pastor advised her not to allow her husband to have sex with her again, otherwise she would have a miscarriage and possibly die.
Soon after the affair, Pastor Agbeko rented a room for Mawuli and encouraged her to move out of her husband's house.
Robert, who had been in the dark all this while, according to her, discovered his wife's infidelity and upon persistent questioning, she confessed that the pastor was responsible for her pregnancy.
After a quarrel between the couple, MawuIi said she left her husband's abode and moved into the apartment the pastor had rented for her and later gave birth to a child.
She subsequently gave birth to a second child for the pastor after some bouts of sex with 'the man of God'.
Pastor Agbeko, she said, later refused to take responsibility for the two kids and denied ever having sex with her.
According to her, he had since abandoned her and allegedly jumped on another member's wife with whom he had a child.
Robert was said to have remained committed to the church until recently when he demanded the payment of ¢800,000 which he said Pastor Agbeko had owed him for four months.
This created a misunderstanding between the two which became serious to the extent that the deceased seized a guitar belonging to the church in lieu of the money.
This incident and others prompted the victim to stop attending the church.
The pastor, it was alleged, warned Robert on 25th June to return the guitar or face the consequences, after which the deceased made a formal report to the police that his life was being threatened.
The Kpalime Police confirmed that they had received complaints from Robert before his death that his life was being threatened by the pastor.
They urged the deceased's family and church to remain calm as they investigate the circumstances leading to Robert's death.
