Ghana midfielder Sulley Muntari has arrived in France for treatment over a knee injury he suffered in the last Serie A game of the season.
The enforcer, who plays for Inter Milan, has been treated to a tongue-lashing for his perceived intentional absence from Sunday’s World Cup qualifier against Mali.
Even though the midfielder has been severely criticised for his absence, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) insists Muntari is injured.
Inter Milan sent the GFA medical reports over the injury and now he is in France for treatment to ensure that he is fit for subsequent matches.
“We have received medical reports from Sulley's club about his injury situation and that is why he missed the Mali game,” Fred Pappoe, GFA vice president told Happy FM.
“He will not be available for the Sudan game because of the injury.
“Sulley is currently in France for treatment and hopefully he will get well soon and return to action for the national team.”
Muntari is expected to be examined by a knee specialist before the extent of injury is known.
