Tension between coach Milovan Rajevac and midfielder Sulley Muntari is said to have dissipated after earlier rumpus which threatened the latter’s continued stay in South Africa.
Sulley was alleged to have burst out, throwing tantrums following the disappointing 1-1 drawn game against Australia on Saturday.
Joy FM’s Sports Editor and Correspondent in South Africa Ernest Koranteng confirmed the incident in an interview with Joy FM’s Super Morning Show host Kojo Oppong Nkrumah on Monday.
According to him, Muntari was unimpressed with the coach’s decision to keep him on the bench in the match against Australia which ended 1-1 on Saturday.
Coach Milovan Rajevac is said to have threatened to axe Sulley Muntari from the team but an apology from the player and subsequent intervention from some players and officials made the Serbian to rescind his decision, Koranteng confirmed.
FA officials have however been tight-lipped on the matter, and the spokesperson, Randy Abbey says he is not aware of any such development.
This is the second report of indiscipline on the part of the Inter Milan midfielder in the less-than-two-weeks-old World Cup campaign in South Africa.
Sulley Muntari is part of a 21 man squad training Monday morning ahead of the crucial Group D decider against Germany.
It is however not certain if he will get a starting role in the match against Germany on Wednesday.
