Black Stars Midfielder Sulley Ali Muntari has arrived in Ghana ahead of his team mates who are expected to touch down at the Kotoka International Airport later tonight.
The Inter Milan star arrived in the country on Sunday night.
It is not clear why Sulley, who scored Ghana’s opener against Uruguay in the controversial quarter final duel, decided not to travel with the team. There are no indications yet whether the once darling boy of Ghana football also received permission from GFA officials to travel to Ghana a day ahead of the entire squad.
Deputy Captain John Mensah will also not be part of the squad when they arrive in Accra tonight. The Sunderland defender sought permission from FA officials to go for his family, who are based in the UK. John is expected in the Country later this week.
Meanwhile an impressive arrival ceremony has been planned for the team and officials when they touch down at the Kotoka International Airport tonight.
A statement signed by the Deputy Sports Minister, Nii Nortey Duah, says the Black Stars team will embark on a special float through some principal streets of Accra tomorrow, Tuesday, July 6, which will end at the Castle Gardens. The team will also be special guests of a special Black Stars celebration concert at the Independence Square later in the day.
Other activities outlined for the team include a meeting with the leadership of parliament on Friday, special Muslim prayers on Friday and a non-denominational thanksgiving church service on Sunday.
The statement encouraged all Ghanaians to continue in the spirit of wearing their red, gold and green attire and come out to welcome the Stars.
