Oti Akenten, coach of the selected U-20 side preparing for two international assignments in Italy, has confirmed to Asempa Sports that Mumuni Abubakar will lead the team in the two friendlies as the skipper.
The Edubiase Fc star’s case is that of the proverbial saying “he who laughs last laughs best” in that he was not part of the initial list of invited players but he was handed a call-up after incessant pressure from Asempa Sports.
According to the head coach, Mumuni Abubakar was handed the captaincy after a careful assessment of other players.
Coach Oti Akenten explained that the player in question is the skipper of his premiership side, Edubiase Fc , saying he was also an integral member of 2011 All Africa Games Soccer Gold medal winning team, and that it therefore stands to reason if Mumuni is given that responsibility.
Meanwhile Coach Oti Akenten has pleaded with Ghanaians to focus on the future of the team instead of the immediate results since his prime motive was to build it for the future.
This notwithstanding, he says the team was preparing to ensure that the U-20 side does well in the two matches.
