Hundreds of women in Kumasi were given special Mothers Day treat, with free health screening organized by Luv FM and Nhyira FM .
They underwent examination for various ailments for on the spot or recommended treatment.
Diabetes and hypertension were identified as major conditions among most of the aged who took opportunity to be screened.
Dr. Sarpong Boateng of Saqs Hospital wants children and other relatives of the aged to take interest in health of the aged.
“As our mothers grow, we have to take interest in their health. Early detection of diabetes and hypertension is important in their treatment”.
Medical officers at Saqs Hospital and Anwiam Clinic who administered the exercise emphasize regular exercise for the ageing.
Organizers of the exercise promise follow-up on individuals diagnosed with such chronic conditions.
Dr. Makafui Tayviah is leader of Berry Foundation, partners in the health screening exercise.
“We will have to regularly check-up on the mothers with specific conditions. Our mothers have been good to us and little things like this is how we can appreciate them,” she said.
