Multimedia Group journalist Sweety Aborchie who hosts the AM Show on JoyNews, has cemented her media legacy by winning the 2024 40Under40 Award in the Broadcasting category.
Known for her dedication to journalistic excellence and her commitment to empowering young women through her initiative, Girl Getup Africa, this latest achievement has earned her widespread admiration from both peers and the public.
The 8th edition of the 40Under40 Awards, held in partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, took place on September 7, 2024, at the Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel in Accra.
This prestigious event recognises Ghana's most influential young leaders under forty who have made significant contributions to their respective industries.
Since its inception, the awards have spotlighted over 1,700 young leaders, acknowledging those who have faced challenges and made substantial contributions to their fields.
This year, Sweety Aborchie was honoured for her achievements in media and her pursuit of positive change.
This award marks a milestone in Sweety’s journey, which began in 2016 when she debuted as a news anchor on GTV Sports+.
After a brief hiatus, she returned to the screen in 2022 and now hosts the morning show on JoyNews, Ghana’s only 24-hour news channel.
Her rise in the media landscape has been driven by her intellect, engaging presence, and commitment to storytelling.
Beyond broadcasting, Sweety has made an impact through Girl Getup Africa, a non-profit organisation that provides mentorship, skills training, and resources to young women.
The initiative aims to help women lead purposeful lives and has already reached many across the continent.
The organisation is preparing for its annual seminar in November 2024, which aims to inspire and empower even more women.
Sweety Aborchie’s dual impact as a media personality and advocate for women's empowerment reflects her leadership, passion for community development, and ability to inspire others.
With this latest recognition, she continues to drive excellence and purposeful living in Ghana and beyond.
The 40Under40 Awards are celebrated not only in Ghana but also in the United Kingdom, South Africa, and Kenya.
The scheme is set to hold its global awards in the United Arab Emirates in April 2025.
