Upscale Entertainment, Organizers of Floyd Mayweather’s visit to Ghana, have finally confirmed the Multimedia Group as official media for the two day event between June 15 and 16. The announcement was made by the CEO of Upscale, Roni Yeboah, at a well-attended news conference at the Kempinski Gold Coast City Hotel in Accra.
The one-hour event was to officially announce the confirmed programme of activities for the boxing legend.
“We are excited about the partnership with Multimedia for the project and are confident in the Group’s ability to make maximum impact for this tour, we did not hesitate to bring Multimedia Group on board because of their place of relevance in the Ghanaian media space,” the Upscale CEO told the news conference.
Roni Yeboah also stated that her outfit was looking forward to a long term partnership with Multimedia that will yield positive mutual benefits. “Multimedia has great established brands and we are looking forward to going long haul to grow our brand as well,” she said.
Mayweather is expected to travel to Kumasi on June 15 to pay homage to Otumfuo Osei Tutu and tour the Manhyia Museum to learn about Ashanti Kingdom. He will do some charity work at a selected orphanage in the Garden City and return to Accra for the special motivational dinner session at the Movenpik Ambassador Hotel.
The next day, June 16th will see Mayweather pay a courtesy call on the Ga Traditional Council. The global Icon will also be a guest of honour at a special boxing night at the Bukom Boxing Arena put together by Asamoah Gyan’s Baby Jet Promotions. Obodai ‘The Miracle’ Sai (32-2, 24 KOs) will face undefeated Namibian Walter ‘The Executioner’ Kautondokwa (14-0, 13kos) for the WBO Africa middleweight title.

The long awaited rematch between IBO lightweight champion Emmanuel ‘Game Boy’ Tagoe and one time WBA Africa champion, George Ashie will come off but as a five round exhibition. The bill will also have some amateur bouts as a way of showcasing some of Ghana’s talents to the legend who is also focusing on pushing other boxing into relevance through his outfit, Mayweather Promotions.
Commenting on the boxing event, Sammy Anim Addo CEO of Baby Jet Promotions, said his outfit was working around the clock to ensure an exciting night. “Mayweather’s presence in Ghana will bring a lot of international attention here. Especially considering that his millions of followers will have their attention on Ghana. “These fights will surely be exciting because the public has waited for them for some time now. The fans in addition to seeing their idol will get good entertainment,” he said.
