ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE
LIVE weekend European League action on Multi-TV began at the Emirates where Arsenal were badly in need of any kind of win against a struggling Bolton side.
Robin van Persie scored his 100th Arsenal goal as the Gunners put their recent troubles behind them with a comfortable victory over 10-man Bolton. After a drab first-half display the Gunners sprang in to life in the second and opened the scoring when Van Persie beat Jussi Jaaskelainen at his near post just 40 seconds after the break.David Wheater then saw red for pulling back Theo Walcott when he was through on goal before Van Persie brought up his ton with a clever flick and Alex Song struck near the death to complete the morale-boosting win.
In other games, Fernando Torres' mixed fortunes continued as he found the net before seeing red for an ugly challenge in Chelsea's comfortable Premier League victory over Swansea. A Ramires brace and a Drogba strike in injury time wrapped up the points for the blues. Goals from Balotelli and James Milner restored City to the top of the league against a depleted but brave Everton side.
A Roger Johnson own goal, diverting in Charlie Adam's shot, and another magical Luis Suarez strike were enough for Liverpool to run out 2-1 winners over Wolves, who have now lost their third straight game.Steven Fletcher pulled one back for Wolves within minutes of the second half starting to ratchet up the pressure on the hosts who held on to win, thanks in part to Captain Steven Gerrard’s 15 minute cameo.
Manchester United dropped their first points of the campaign against Stoke when a Nani first half strike was cancelled out by a Peter Crouch header in the second period. There were wins for Tottenham and Newcastle.
FRENCH LIGUE 1
Lyon versus Bordeaux, the top draw game in the French Ligue kicked off LIVE at 5pm on Joy Sports on Multi-TV. Lyon are top of Ligue 1 alongside Paris St Germain after two goals from Bafetimbi Gomis guided them to a 3-1 win over Bordeaux. Michel Bastos added a third goal in the 64th minute to put the game out of Bordeaux's reach, a late penalty by Anthony Modeste the only consolation for the visitors.
In other games, Paris St Germain became joint leaders an identical point record to Lyon after a dominant 3-0 win at Montpellier in the late game.Javier Pastore's two second-half goals and a first-half strike from Kevin Gameiro put the capital outfit level with Lyon on points and goal difference.
Toulouse continued their excellent start after claiming a narrow 1-0 win over lowly Nancy to go level on points with Lyon and PSG.Joe Cole's first goal in French football was one to savour but worth only a point afterLorient snatched a stoppage-time equaliser in a 1-1 draw at Lille.
Second-half substitute Jose Saez scored two minutes into injury-time to earn Valenciennesa point with a 1-1 draw that keeps Marseille in the lower reaches of the table.Caen's bright start to the new campaign continued with a 4-2 victory over Evian in a breathless encounter at Parc des Sports.
Franck Dja Djedje's last-minute goal salvaged a point for Nice in an entertaining 1-1 draw with Dijon.Dja Djedje fired home in the dying seconds to cancel out Benjamin Corgnet's 14th-minute opener for the visitors to Stade du Ray.
ITALIAN SERIE A
Juventus flying start to the season has been somewhat slowed following a second successive draw, this time away to Catania, in Sundays Serie A game shown on Joy Sports on Multi-TV. Milos Krasic grabbed a second-half equaliser as the Serie A leaders had to settle for a point from a 1-1 draw with Catania. And it could have been much worse for Juve had Andrea Catellani not squandered an injury-time chance to win the match for the Sicilian outfit.
Udinese extended their unbeaten start to the season to four games but they were fortunate to get away with a point in a 0-0 draw at Cagliari. Udinese striker Antonio Di Natale failed to find the back of the net for the first time this season but he was not given many chances to score either as the home side did most of the attacking.
Palermo held Lazio to a goalless draw. The result will not please Lazio coach Edy Reja, whose side have yet to win at home this season.
Siena stormed to their first victory of the season with a 3-0 win against 10-man Lecce.
Novara left Bergamo furious at not taking a point from their clash with Atalanta, losing 2-1. Novara managed to half the deficit with a minute of normal time remaining through Filippo Porcari, but appeared to have run out of time. They had one more chance, though, which Pablo Granoche took, only for the goal to be disallowed for offside despite replays proving otherwise.
A last-gasp goal from Davide Moscardelli ended Genoa's unbeaten start to the season and took Chievo above them in the Serie A table with a 2-1 win.
Live action continues on Mutlti-TV when Real Madrid take on Ajax Amsterdam in the UEFA Champions League on Champions Tuesday.
