Ghana’s telecommunication giant MTN Ghana, on Friday, August 9, engaged with civil society organisations (CSOs) in the Greater Accra Region.
The event, which was held at the company’s head office in Accra sought to update the CSOs on the company’s operations and solicit feedback on the company’s operations
The forum attracted more than 50 CSOs, including the Ghana Center for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana), Afrobarometer, and the Institute of Democratic Governance (IDEG).
The forum also sought to create a dialogue on improving MTN’s telecom services and corporate initiatives, reflecting the company’s desire to collaborate more deeply with civil society.
The discussions covered various topics, including MTN’s sustainability efforts, network quality, and the company’s future plans.
This engagement also forms part of MTN’s broader strategy to deepen its connections with community stakeholders and address their concerns.

Madam Adwoa Wiafe, MTN Ghana’s Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer, emphasized the importance of this dialogue.
“This forum is an important step in our ongoing efforts to engage with CSOs and incorporate their insights into our operations,” Wiafe said. “We want to ensure our services and initiatives align with community needs and expectations.”
Wiafe highlighted the forum’s role in building understanding and collaboration between MTN and CSOs. We value the feedback and expertise that CSOs bring to the table,” she added. “This interaction helps us improve our services and address key advocacy issues.”
The forum also explored potential future collaborations, such as digital skills training and support for farmers. Wiafe suggested that targeted sessions could be organized to address the specific needs of different groups within the community.
Benedict Bentel, Senior Manager of Enterprise Commercial at MTN Ghana, focused on the company’s initiatives to support small and medium enterprises (SMEs), which constitute about 90% of businesses in Ghana.

Bentel discussed MTN’s efforts to provide tools and training to enhance SME operations and facilitate access to financial resources.
The event concluded with a Q&A session moderated by Mrs. Georgina Asare Fiagbenu, Senior Manager for Corporate Communications.
CSOs raised questions on mobile money, network quality, and internet data, which MTN officials addressed thoroughly.
The forum, organized by MTN Ghana’s Corporate Communications Department, received positive feedback from attendees and underscored the company’s commitment to fostering stronger relationships with civil society.
