Mothers with newborn babies in hospitals and health centres in Ho, Volta Region, received hampers as Christmas presents from mobile telecommunications operator, MTN.
The gifts worth thousands of Ghana cedis were donated on Saturday to mothers who had delivered during the festive period.
The hampers, which contained baby care products such as wipes, diapers, tissues, powder, bathing and washing soaps, baby dolls among others, are to help the mothers, especially those with financial difficulties.
Presenting the items, leader of the group, Mawuli Katehena, noted that the donations form part of the company’s social responsibilities; to provide support to those who need it.
Mr. Katahena also noted that it is necessary for the company to support mothers in order to help in the improvement of healthcare and maternal care.
"These wonderful mothers who go through a lot in order to give life deserve to be celebrated. Hence the need for MTN to annually show love to them," he said.
The new mothers expressed their gratitude to MTN for their continuous support to mothers and the less privileged in society.
They pleaded with other corporate bodies to help ease congestions at the maternity halls by supporting them to renovate the facility.
