Nii Amash Namoale, NDC MP for La Dade Kotopon Constituency in the Greater Accra has said that it is about time the government demonstrates that it was actually dedicated to the rule of law.
He said the NPP government also claims it is committed to the rule of law but exactly practices what is contradictory to the claims
He said this after asking the Interior Minister what government was doing to Mr Asher who broke jail in the 1980’s.
He questions why a government that preaches respect for the law will give all the protections to a fugitive of Justice during the hearings at the NRC.
Hon. Amash, who is also Deputy Minority Spokesman on Defence and Interior, questioned the continued disregard for the laws of the land.
In another development, Hon. Kan Dapaah told Parliament that the Attorney General and the Minister of Justice is studying the matter in his answer to the MPs question on the floor.
The MP also asked the Minister when the Prisons barracks in the Cantonments/Labone Area in the Dade Kotopon Constituency will be rehabilitated.
In his answer the Minister said the rehabilitation of the barracks is being done in phases and that the government was committed to improving the lots of the security services.
